Description
The Arturia Matrixbrute is a very powerful analog synthesizer. It is mainly used as a monophonic synth, but with different voice modes it is able to generate 3 voices. The matrix is a simplified routing of the signal path and modulations that covers most of what you would do with modular synths, without patch cables. What’s the most powerful is that you can program four knobs to change the depth of modulation of anything patched on the matrix, so if you want, you can change all modulation settings at a twist of a knob (and they give you four so that each knob change different things). One cool feature is that you can draw your own LFO shape on the matrix – any odd shape that you can imagine. The Matrixbrute allows you to save the whole thing as a preset. And then you can move on to create the next patch. All of the above, from my experience, are not easily achieved in a modular synth system. Whilst modular synths offer almost unlimited flexibility, the Matrixbrute strikes an excellent balance in sound quality, patching flexibility, cost efficiency, and ease of operations. If you’d like, the Matrixbrute can be patched externally from the routing ports behind the matrix panel. If you so desire to bring in a module with an irreplaceable oscillator, filter, function, or effects the Matrixbrute welcomes it with a certain level of control integration. This item is used, but still in very good condition cosmetically, and is fully functional. The side wooden panels received some wears from usage. The single thread of metal wire that [attempts to] prevent the front panel from moving too far is broken. No wire can hold back the Matrixbrute weighing at 20 kg and the flip top panel is more than half of the weight! For more technical details, please visit Arturia’s website here.
