The Fender Highway One Precision Bass presents a great value for a fine build from USA, with nitro finishing in 3-tone burst. The classic combination of alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and split-coil P pickup produces a rich sound very familiar to us. P-basses are considered workhorse for recording studios, and this individual, produced in 2010, is certainly up to the task. The ultra thin nitro finish may very well contributed to more openness in sound. The bass balances well with strap, and it’s reasonably light weight. The modern feature it carries is a Badass II bridge (factory installed original) that provides a longer sustain than vintage-style bridge. The bass is currently strung with Fender 7250M roundwound 45-105.
The condition of this used instrument is Good. The neck and headstock are surprisingly in mint condition, as there is no virtually no wear and frets are like new. The body finish have fine scratches almost throughout, due to use and more likely from cleaning. The thin layer of nitro on Highway One feels soft, and quite prone to wearing quickly. The finish near the bottom end strap button has a bit of unevenness. The electronics and truss rod function normally, and overall the bass is very smooth to play.
The bass comes with a gig bag, but all of its zipper handles (soft metal) are broken, so we advise that it only serves as protection during shipment. All specifications are listed in the Additional Information tab above.
