Description
We present this Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass ’58 Re-issue, made in Germany 1992. It carries the nickname Beatle Bass as it is made famous by Paul McCartney. If this is not your first bass guitar, it will take some time getting used to. Ergonomically, it is light, small, and everything is tighter than a standard 34″ scale. The neck pickup produces much more output than the bridge pickup, due to the distance by design – to get a balanced sound from two pickups, the neck pickup volume needs to be about 20% only. The main sound characteristic of the violin bass is its short sustain, and punchy attack. Nothing sounds quite like it. Whilst it is not the most versatile sound particularly for more modern genres, it is undeniably a legend.
This bass is used and is in Excellent+ condition. Apart from a couple of nicks on top of the neck corners, other areas have slight dullness in finish, light nicks and fine scratches if examined closely. Overall, it is very clean instrument. The electronics, truss rod, hardwares are all functioning properly. About 80% fret remaining. All specifications are listed in the Additional Information tab above.
Rare German Made `58 Reissue Hofner Model 500/1 Violin Bass , made for the Japanese market only, manufactured between 1984 & 1993.
