Description
Alembic is a well-known high end instrument manufacturer based in the United States, that focuses in producing excellent quality hand-made instruments with the best material and tones, and it has attracted the great Stanley Clarke to collaborate with Alembic, hence the Stanley Clarke Signature SC4 was created. It features a multi-ply Walnut top/back, maple/mahogany/maple sandwich body construction, which gives the bass an incredible look and complex tonal characteristics. It features a 24-fret Ebony fretboard and maple/walnut neck, which the ebony delivers a smooth and bright tone and the neck wood configuration gives the bass a mixture of warmth and brightness. For electronics, it is equipped with 2 original Alembic AXY pickups and pre-amp, which provides lots of tonal possibilities and headroom.
This bass is used and it is in very good condition. Throughout the body front and back, as well as back of neck, there are dullness in finish in various areas. There are a few scratch marks on top of the body. There are some nicks and scratches on the sides, and a minor ding at the back of the body. The brass plate at the back covering the electronics compartment has some scratches. There are no significant nicks and scratches on the neck and fingerboard, except for a few light scratches on the sides of the fingerboard wood. The side dot markers have aged. As for the headstock, there are minor nicks and scratches, and some dullness in finish. The tip at the top of the headstock has received a nick. The brass logo on the headstock is in good shape. Brass hardware has also seen obvious ageing, but still smooth to operate. At some point, there were strap buttons installed in alternative positions on the back of the body, as well as at the bottom of the guitar. The holes of these extra strap button spots have been restored, but still clearly seen.
There are about 80% of frets remaining. We are unsure whether the tuners of the bass has been replaced, since it is silver instead of gold that would match with the bridge brass; we assume that tuners had been replaced, but with is genuine parts. The electronics are working normally, the gold finish has worn off slightly, and truss rod functions in both direction.
