The Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker is a model that celebrates Gibson’s 120th Anniversary, and it is an affordable US-made guitar with high-quality materials and a great story behind it. The Melody Maker was made from 1959 to 1971 as a beginner level guitar, with a single cut body and P-90s pickups. For the 2014 version that we have here at Bella Romeo, the Les Paul Melody Maker has features from both the Les Paul and the Melody Maker. It features a carved maple top and mahogany body, which the maple has a bright tonal character while mahogany brings out the warmness. It has a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard and a maple neck with a ’50s rounded profile, which has a warm tone and great playability. It comes with two P-90 pickups which are versatile and can handle different genres. Although the body is finished in satin, USA-made Gibsons still ensure nitro.
This guitar is used and it is in fair condition. There are a number of dings and some scratches on the top and back of the body. The dings around the body edges are deep enough to expose wood beneath the finish, but nothing jagged to make playing uncomfortable. The satin body finish is worn in various areas of the body from usage and cleaning; these worn areas are more glossy and reflective than the original satin. The neck and fretboard are in good condition as there are no dings and scratches on the neck, and there are about 80% of frets left. The electronics, truss rod and hardwares are working properly.
