Apart from producing great guitar strings and accessories for guitarists and bassists, Ernie Ball also makes great instruments and artists such as Steve Lukather, and James Valentine have signature models made for them by Ernie Ball. One of the biggest names on its roster is John Petrucci, and one of the models is the JP12 BFR- Ball Family Reserve guitar which we have here. It features a basswood body construction, which is lighter than the alder body compared to the JP6 BFR model while still having a similar sonic profile. The guitar has a 24-fret ebony fretboard with a 20′ radius, which means that there is little from stopping you shredding fast notes like John Petrucci. With DiMarzio Liquifire and Crunch Lab humbuckers in the neck and the bridge, this guitar is more than capable to handle all the high-gain tones and lots of shredding.
This guitar is used and it is in excellent condition. The finish is very glossy and reflective, so we struggle to take photos in our showroom from our usual angles. The top of the body has no dings and there are some pick scratches, causing dullness in the finish. There are a few minor nicks on the side, and there are no ding or scratch on the back, but a surprising Tosin Abasi signature on the backplate. The neck and fretboard are in great condition with no nick or scratch, and the frets are made of stainless steel hence they have a very long life. The electronics and hardware are working properly with no issues. This guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity and an original deluxe hard case.
