Sadowsky NYC is an instrument brand that is beloved by many legendary musicians around the world, and it is also trusted by many session players as it can offer a lot of tones and versatility, like this Vintage 5 custom that we are presenting here at Bella Romeo. It features a solid light weight ash body construction with a custom order rocket red finish, which the ash brings a balanced tonal character and providing a more comfortable playing experience with the weight being lighter than usual. The rocket red finish is sure to make you the highlight in the stage with its eye-catching colour. Red LED side markers for easier navigation in the dark – a super custom option from Sadowsky factory that may not be offered anymore. The bass has a 21-fret maple fretboard and quartersawn maple neck, which the maple brings extra brightness and pop to the bass. For electronics, it comes with a Sadowsky Super stack Hum-cancelling in the middle and Super J Bridge, and the Sadowsky Preamp with Vintage Tone Control. The combination of these electronics allows the bass to have unrivalled versatility and power, enabling the bass to handle anything situations.
It is worthwhile to mention that Sadowsky basses have a tone knob that works in both active and passive mode. We are not sure why this wiring is not adopted with more basses (Alleva Coppolo, Fodera, Roscoe, Le Fay, F Bass, Freedom C.G.R. basses have this same feature, to our knowledge, and perhaps there are more out there), as it adds versatility to the tone by many miles. Many other basses have passive mode without a tone control; and for those that does have a tone control knob, it doesn’t work in active mode. We understand that treble-cut can be regarded as tone roll off, but really, it’s not the same.
This bass is used and it is in excellent condition. The top of the body is in good condition with only a few cleaning marks. There is 3 dings in total on the side of the body. There are some scratches and cleaning marks on the back of the body. There are also one minor nick near the electronics plate ,and the electronics plate have some scratches as well. The dings are not very visible on the photos that we have taken. The fretboard and neck are in good condition with no sractches and dings. There are about 80% of frets remaining. The headstock is in good condition. The electronics are working normally and the truss rod functions in both directions. This bass comes with an original gig bag.
